Dr. Jerome Kagan: 90% of ADD Diagnosis is Wrong
In 2012, Jerome Kagan, world leading psychologist, publicly declared:
"ADD diagnosis is an invention created out of self interest and greed"..... "......90 % of these 5.4 million kids don't have an abnormal dopamine metabolism." "The problem is, if a drug is available to doctors, they'll make the corresponding diagnosis." Kagan offers a scathing critique of mental-health establishments and pharmaceutical companies, accusing them of incorrectly classifying millions out of self-interest and greed. "What about tutoring instead of pills?" There is still no definitive testing for ADD or ADHD diagnosis. National Institute of Health (NIH) statement from expert panel: "There is no valid, reliable or independent test; there are no data to indicate ADHD is due to a brain malfuntion or might be disease state or brain pathology....." http://www.wddty.com/what-causes-adhd.html Recent FDA approval of new brain wave technology seems promising, but skeptics claim results are still not definitive since many other factors still need to be considered before appropriate ADHD diagnosis.... and scans may not be able to distinguish biological defects from drug-induced defects such as brain shrinkage and memory neuron destruction. "Children who get ADD diagnosis may not really have the condition..." "For their story about soaring diagnosis rates, the newspaper analyzed raw data from a wider CDC study of children's health issues, including more than 76,000 parents nationwide interviewed from February 2011 to June 2012." "Many European parents, teachers, and doctors are reluctant to use medication to treat what they see as routine childhood behavioral problems...."
